HELLO MY READER FRIENDS. TODAY DR. VIJAYA IS GOING TO TELL U ABOUT OUR ANCIENT INDIAN RITUAL- " SOLAH SHRINGAAR.
SOLAH means sixteen & SHRINGAAR means make up or adornments. Solah shringaar is the 16 basic steps of beautification of married women of INDIA from head to toe. It is a part of INDIAN tradition & culture but it also includes scientific facts. 
Everything in the INDIAN culture is purely based on SCIENCE. If we observe closely then every tradition help us for our PHYSICAL & MENTAL WELL BEING. Let's see how ??? 

1st - UBTAN



UBTAN is a paste of sandalwood powder, turmeric powder, milk, rose water etc. This is an organic face & body scrub in INDIA. It not only removes the dirt & tan from face & body & makes the body glowing but also improves the blood circulation & provides relaxation. 

2nd - SINDOOR



SINDOOR contains turmeric, lime & a minute level of mercury. When sindoor is applied on the hair partition, the mercury cools down the body & makes a female feel relaxed. It is applied right above the PITUITARY GLAND, a major hormone releasing gland of the body. It triggers a sexual drive among females. This is the reason why widows or unmarried women are not allowed to wear it. 

3rd - BINDI



BINDI is worn on the forehead between the eye brows to enhance beauty & charm. The place where it is applied is a major nerve point in human body. While meditation, KUNDALINI or energy rises from the base of spine to this spot. So this is said to be a COMMAND CENTRE. It helps to maintain mental balance. It improves focus & exudes energy. 

4th - KAJAL



KAJAL is used to enhance the size & shape of the eyes. It is applied on the upper & lower rims of the eyelids. The application of the kajal makes our eyes cool. It protects the eyes from dust particles & reduce red spots of eyes. Keeps our eyes active & glowing. 

5th - MAANG TEEKA 



MAANG TEEKA controls the heat of our body. It is held by a hook at the center parting of hair, with a pendant falling on the center of the forehead. The point where it falls, is the AJNA or 3rd EYE CHAKRA which means " To know or perceive ".The chakra is represented by two petals signifying the holy union of male & female. 

6th - KUNDAL



KUNDAL Or earrings are worn after ear piercing. Outer part of our ear carry a lot of important ACUPUNCTURE & ACUPRESSURE points. Wearing earrings has an acupuncture effect on the body that can help in curing menstrual problems. It also has an acupressure effect that keeps kidney & bladder healthy. 

7th - NATH



NATH or nose ring is usually made of gold & silver. It is worn mostly in the left nostril. It makes a woman's face more prettier. Woman who get their nose pierced on the left side is for a good reason. This point is linked to the reproductive organs of women. It eases the menstrual & labour pains. It also controles brain wavelengths. 

8th - KANGAN




KANGAN or bangles are made of glass, gold, silver or metals. They signify long life of husband, good fortune & prosperity. Silver & gold strengthens the bones of the hand & due to the friction, the qualities & properties of these metals enter the body. Bangles improve blood circulation & revert back to her the cosmic energy that is passing through her body due to their circular shape. 

9th - HAAR




HAAR Or necklace are mostly made of gold. Pure gold has a no. of healing properties & the most important of them is improved heart health. Necklace also attracts the cosmic waves from the surroundings & aids heart functioning. It boosts immunity & regularize blood pressure. 

10th - BAJUBAND




BAJUBAND or armlet is made of gold or silver & worn on arms. These armbands regulates blood circulation in our arms & creates the right amount of resistance which makes the arm feel comfortable. 

11th - MEHENDI




MEHENDI is a ceremonial art and is applied on the hands & feet which has the nerve endings of the body. Application of mehendi can prevent too much stress because it cools the body & destresses the nerves & relieves them. It has many medicinal properties. Being a highly antiseptic agent can protect from diseases, cuts & bruises. 

12th - ANGOOTHI



ANGOOTHI Or ring is worn specially on the ring finger that is the fourth finger from the thumb. The nerve passing through the ring finger stimulates brain activity. Frequent metallic friction on this finger is good for a person's health. 

13th - KAMARBAND




KAMARBAND is the waistband that enhances the graceful shape of a female silhouette. This ornament not only helps in keeping the dress or sari in place but also helps in regulating the menstrual periods & provides relief from menstrual cramps. A silver kardhani is said to control belly fat. It prevents hernia also. 

14th - PAYAL



PAYAL Or anklets are chains that are worn around the ankles. It is generally made of silver as wearing gold on your feet is considered to be inauspicious. Wearing anklets helps to get relief from sciatica that is pain, tingling & weakness of legs. It regulates blood circulation & aids in curing swollen heels. It activates lymph glands in the body & boosts immunity. It helps to cure hormonal imbalances, infertility & abnormal conditions of obstetrics. 


15th - BICHHIYA




BICHHIYA or toe ring are worn on the 2nd & 3rd fingers of the feet, blood vessels of which are supposed to be connected with the uterus & the heart. The toe ring helps in maintaining the blood flow & regulates menstrual cycle. Silver also absorbs polar energies & pass them to the body. 

16th - GAJRA



GAJRA is made of flowers that represent happiness. The fresh fragrance of flowers attract opposite sex.
